WILLIAM (BILL) MARKO It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father and grandfather at the Arborg and Districts Health Centre on Saturday, March 2, 2002. William (Bill) Marko, aged 85 years, beloved husband of Pauline Marko of Arborg. Born in Hamrlik, MB in 1917. William was the eldest son of the late Andrew and Katherine Marko. He spent most of his life in the Poplarfield area farming and also worked in the gold mines in Ontario. He was also a school bus driver for the Lakeshore Division for 21 years. He had many interests such as curling, hunting and traveling. Upon retiring, he lived in Arborg with Pauline for 21 years and was active in the Arborg Seniors Club and was an active member of the Ukrainian Catholic Church at Hamrlik and Arborg. He traveled South in the winters from 1981 to 1994 visiting Florida, Arizona, Texas, Palm Springs, Las Vegas, Lava Hot Springs in Idaho, Seattle and also in Canada in BC, Toronto, Hamilton, London and many other places. Surviving to mourn his loss his wife of almost 56 years Pauline; daughter Darlene; son-in-law Jim Agelatos and granddaughters, Zoe and Roxanne of Clear Water, Florida; brother Nick and sister-in-law Jessie of Blind River, ON; sisters, Ann Libitka of Winnipeg and Mary Dzydz of Arborg and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter Diane Mary; his brothers, Walter and Steve; brother-in-law Nick Libitka and sister Lily in infancy. Prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 8 at the Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9 at 10:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Ukrainian Catholic Church Arborg. Rev. Fr. Peter Chorney will officiate. Interment will follow in the Hamrlik cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Judy Jonason, Mike Surminski, Wally Liebenau, John Swarychewski, Lawrence Suchar and Evelyn Backaluk. Active pallbearers Paul Bobbee, Albert Foster, Robert Leochko, Gordon Libitka, Greg Pidhirniak and Rob Bydak. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
