WILLIAM AUSTIN (BUS) BURNETT On Friday, March 1, 2002 at the Portage General Hospital, W. Austin (Bus) Burnett was called to his eternal home, surrounded by his loving family. He was just 21 days short of his 92nd birthday. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 7 at 2:00 p.m. in Highway Tabernacle, 1680 Saskatchewan Ave. W., Portage la Prairie, with Mr. Ben Sutton officiating, followed by a reception in the lower auditorium. A private interment will take place in the family plot in Oakville Cemetery prior to the funeral. Austin was born at Oakville, MB, son of the late Jack and Maude Burnett. At an early age they moved to the Mill Creek School District where he received his education. In 1937, he married the former Grace Thornton and they established their home on the farm he subsequently operated for the next 66 years. In 2000, Austin was still operating the combine for the harvest, at the age of 90 years. As a young man Austin gave his heart to the Lord Jesus and for over 70 years, his life was a vibrant testimony to his faith and commitment to his Saviour. From its inception in 1930, Austin was a vital part of Fortier Gospel Chapel, and was highly respected as an elder and a good example of a believer. Besides his loving wife Grace, he is survived by his daughter Shirley (Sidney) Miljure of Eriksdale, MB, and son Jim (Linda) of Fortier, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughter Joan in 1956. Austin is also survived by one brother Jack Burnett (Chris) of Portage la Prairie and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Everett and Clifford; and one sister Muriel Moxham. If friends so desire, contributions to Faith Bible Camp, P.O. Box 42059, RPO Ferry Rd., Winnipeg, MB, R3J 3X7 or Central Plains Cancer Care Service, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 0K8 would be appreciated. Arrangements are by: Ronald Moffit Memorial Services 856-3487
