RUDOLF HOLOWATY After a short illness, Rudolf Holowaty, aged 80 years, died Sunday, March 3, 2002 in Vancouver, BC. Rudolf was born April 20, 1921 in the village of Koroliwka, in the district of Borszcziw, Western Ukraine, the son of Mary (nee Fuczkiewicz) and Joseph Holowaty. In 1931, he immigrated to Canada, initially settling in Winnipeg, but living most of his adult life in Vancouver. For many years he worked as a chemist. He was very active in the parish of St. Marys Ukrainian Catholic Church. Left to cherish Rudolfs memory are his sons, Dr. Eric Holowaty and wife Philippa of Toronto, ON, Dr. Carl Holowaty and wife Donna of St. Louis; four grandchildren, Helen, Peter, Gregory and Alexandra; brother Rt. Rev. Jaroslaw Holowaty of Winnipeg, MB. He was predeceased by his wife Donalda on September 1, 1999. Funeral mass will be held 6:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9 at Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 550 West 14th Ave., Vancouver. Gathering of friends will be in the church hall at 5:00 p.m. Reception will follow the mass.
