Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMIRIAM PFEFFER MACKLIS March 8, 1913 - March 4, 2002 With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Mother and Grandmother after a courageous battle with cancer on March 4, 2002. Miriam was predeceased by her husband Abraham Pfeffer in 1962 and her beloved son Harvey in 1998. She will be mourned by her loving son Israel, wife Kathryn and grandsons David and Avrum; daughter-in-law Shelley (the late Harvey Pfeffer) and grandchildren, Daniel, Naomi, Aaron and Leah. She also leaves to cherish her memory husband Jacob Macklis; his daughter Sylvia (Frank) White, Sybyl (Frank) Steele, Lil (Ike) Greenfeld and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Miriam will also be sorely missed by her friend, cousin and cooking partner Sabina (Michael) Hirsch and their children with whom she shared a lifetime of friendship; and the families of her cousins, Max and Toni Hirsch and Paul and Nettie Fox. Miriam arrived in Winnipeg in 1950 to start a new life. Through hard work and determination, after the loss of her husband Abraham, she was able to provide her sons with the guidance and support to obtain good educations and to pursue successful business careers. In 1971 she married Jacob Macklis and in the years to follow she had the joy of living in Israel and renew ties to her long lost relatives and friends. The family gratefully acknowledges the kind and compassionate care of the doctors and staff of the Riverview Health Centre and the care of Dr. Arthur Blank. Funeral services were held at Chesed Shel Emes Chapel on Monday, March 4 at 8:30 p.m. Service conducted by Rabbi Yaakov Benamou. Interment in Rehovoth, Israel to follow. Donations may be made to the charity of your choosing.
