MARE KALIC Peacefully after a lengthy illness, Mare Kalic, aged 58 years, beloved wife of Pave, passed away at her home on March 6, 2002. Besides her husband of 31 years, Pave, she will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Mariana; son Mate (Lisa) two sisters in Croatia, Milka (Blaz) and Kate (Franjo) 12 nieces and nephews and 12 great-nieces and nephews in Croatia; and nephew Milan (Stefica) and children, Ivica and Mishel of Australia. Mare was predeceased by her father Mate who died in the Second World War, her mother Janja in 1988, and brother Mate in infancy. Mare was born in Kruskovaca, Croatia and came to Canada in 1971. Mare was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt and wife, but her greatest accomplishment was that of being the best mother. The most important thing in Moms life was her family and taking care of us. She lived for her children. Mom had a hard life, being the youngest of three daughters. There was always a lot of work to be done on the farm, even after coming to Canada she continued working hard to give her children everything. Mom was a loving and caring person who was always there to lend a helping hand. She made time for everything. She especially enjoyed working in her garden, crocheting and baking. When Mom learned of her illness she was not scared but very saddened at the thought of leaving her children, her exact words were "I want to live for my kids." We did not know that morning, What sorrow the day would bring. The bitter grief and shock severe, To part with one we loved so dear. You bid no one a last farewell, No chance to say goodbye. You were gone before we knew it, And only God knows why. It broke our hearts to lose you, But you did not go alone, For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. Though your smile is gone forever, And your hand we cannot touch, We will never lose the memory, Of the one we loved so dearly. Mom we dont know how we will go on without you. Our lives will never be the same. We will continue living and making you proud knowing that you are with us until we meet again. Your Loving Family. Prayers will be held on Monday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the Croatian Catholic Church of St. Nicholas Tavelich, 2688 Main St. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
