DORIS SAWCHYN April 19, 1907 - March 11, 2002 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Doris Sawchyn, on Monday, March 11, 2002 at the Sunnywood PCH, Pine Falls, MB. She leaves to mourn her beloved children, Frances Hlady of Winnipeg and Cliff (Phyllis) Sawchyn of Pine Falls; five grandchildren, Cliff Hlady (Shannon) of Wabamun, AB, Donna McTavish (Wilf) of Lac du Bonnet, MB, Conard Hlady (Sue) of Calahoo, AB, John (Mary) Sawchyn of Stead, MB, Linda (Ed) Miller of Madison, WI; 13 great-grandchildren, Clinton Hlady, Sarah Mackenzie, Tammy (Carl) Gartner, Doug (Rachel) McTavish, Debbie (Mike) Leost, Steven (Sonya) Hlady, Derek Hlady, Pamela (Jason) Gehlert, Jennifer Sawchyn, Joy Sawchyn, Dani-Lyn (Trevor) Coss, Stephanie Nault, Melanie Nault and 14 great-great-grandchildren; as well as the many many friends who cherished and loved her. Doris was a very loving and caring person who was kind and generous to everyone. Everyone she met was her "sweetheart" or "honey". She was very proud and accepting of her family. She loved her birds and animals and flowers and everything living. She had great pride in, and was well known for her enormous and colourful flower gardens. It seems that everything she touched thrived. She was famous for her perogies, holubchi and pies and gigantic meals which she prepared with such love. You never left her house hungry! Her friends were also her family and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her door was always open to everyone. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at the Pine Falls Hospital and the Sunnywood Manor for their compassion and loving care. Also to her friends and family who stopped by to offer their prayers and support, who gave back to her some of the love and caring she gave so much of herself. Special thanks to Rose Smorang and dear friend Babe Dawson. Mass will be held on Saturday, March 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Notre Dame du Laus Church, Powerview, MB, with Fr. James Gray officiating. Friends may pay their respects one hour prior to the service and Rosary will be said at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at the Pine Falls Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her great-granddaughters, Debbie Leost, Dani-Lyn Coss, Stephanie Sawchyn, Melanie Sawchyn, Jennifer Sawchyn and Joy Sawchyn. Honorary pallbearers will be Conard Hlady, Wilf McTavish, John Sawchyn, Steven Hlady, Derek Hlady, Mike Leost, Kevin Courchene and Ed Miller. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society in her memory. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there I am a thousand winds that blow I am the diamond glints on snow I am the sunlight on ripened grain I am the gentle autumn rain When you awaken in the morning hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight I am the soft stars that shine at night Do not stand at my grave and cry I am not there, I did not die. Baba, you are finally free from pain. May you fly free with your birds, may you glow with the warmth of Gods love and may you find peace and eternal joy in your flower garden in heaven. We will miss you so very much. VICHNAYA PAMYAT RUSSELL FUNERAL HOMES LTD. & CREMATORIUM of Beausejour, Manitoba are in care of arrangements. 1-866-424-6271 (toll free) or 268-2263.
