JOSEPH SCHWENK On Tuesday, March 12, 2002, Joseph passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, after a long and valiant struggle, in the St. Boniface Hospital, and finally at Concordia Hospital. Joseph will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 59 years Katherine (Kay), his daughter Audrey (Gerard) Labelle and his son Robert, from Washington, DC. Poppys memory will also be cherished by his grandchildren, David and Chantal Labelle; and by a special friend Richard Santos. Uncle Joe will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his brother Jack; and his sisters, Elsie Schultz and Mary Enders. Joseph was born on May 5, 1919 in Winnipeg where he lived his entire life. He was employed by the River East School Division for 27 years. During his retirement years he enjoyed visits to the cottage at Grand Beach and exercising with his friends at the St. Boniface Day Hospital and the Concordia Lions Club. Most of all he loved the many visits from his grandchildren and from his favourite puppy Brandy. He is especially remembered for his kindness, nothing was too big to ask of him. The family would like to thank Dr. A. Vajcner and the staff of the ICUs of St. Boniface and Concordia Hospitals. As Joseph requested, a private family service was held on Friday, March 15 at Glen Eden Funeral Home, with Brother Jorge Villegas O.F.M. Cap, of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church officiating. Interment Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
