BERTRAM ARTHUR GEORGE McCARTNEY Peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2002, Bert passed away in the Palliative Care Unit of the St. Boniface General Hospital at the age of 65 years. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten by his wife Irene, of 44 years of marriage; son Larry (Christine; Lauren) of Acworth, GA; daughter Janice (Roger; Jesse and Preston) of Tyndall, MB; sister Edith (Robert) Parkes; brothers, John (Joyce), Max (Eileen) as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and older brother Ken. Bert was born in Winnipeg on July 4, 1936. Prior to his retirement in 1993, he was employed as a Carman at CNR for 37 and one-half years. For many years, he spent the weekends with family and friends at his cottage at the Big Whiteshell Lake, especially with "Baba" and "Gedo" and many a vacation time with the Bews family. In keeping with Berts wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal funeral service. Family and friends are invited to honour his memory on Monday, March 18 at 1:00 p.m. in the Royal Canadian Legion, Elmwood Branch No. 9, 920 Nairn Ave. (in the downstairs banquet room). Our family would like to thank the dedicated staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the St. Boniface General Hospital, Dr. Kerr and Dr. Tan at the Health Sciences Centre, the home care employees and our family and friends for their assistance during Berts illness. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, St. Boniface General Hospital Research Foundation, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6. If you think of me and cry, Dont think of me at all; But if you think of me and smile, Think of me often. "Goodbye Pa Pa." "You will be greatly missed And in our hearts always."
