Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFLORENCE JOYCE MORE (PORTER) The family of Florence Joyce More (Porter) wish to announce her passing at Souris, MB, March 16, 2002. She was born at Cypress River, MB, June 17, 1926, to William and Ruth (Campbell) Porter. She was raised on the family farm at Cypress River and upon graduation from high school, went to Normal School in Winnipeg. Joyce taught at Elgin, MB, where she met and married Norval More on October 30, 1948. Together, for 53 years, they farmed on the original family homestead. They raised three children, Colleen Ruth (Frank) Wethoos, Leslie Anne (Dave) Larson, and Gregory Wayne (Jo-Ann) More; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Throughout the years Joyce was involved in many communities including West Hall, Regent, Hartney, and upon their retirement, Souris. She had a wide range of interests. Joyce was active on many boards and committees including the Hartney Co-op and the United Church Presbytery. Friends will remember her passion for growing things, her determination to leave things better than when she came and her ability to see the funny side of life. She gave generously of her talents, be it making cookies with grandchildren or designing a landscape plan for someones yard. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by Norval, Colleen, Leslie and Greg and families. Funeral service will be held from Hartney United Church on Thursday, March 21 at 2:00 p.m. Private family interment in the Elgin Cemetery. Donations in memory of Joyce may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation. Kowalchuks Funeral Home, Souris, Manitoba in care of arrangements.
