Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID WILLIAM MCCARTNEY Born June 26, 1933 Died March 18, 2002 Suddenly, early in the morning of March 18, 2002, Dave McCartney passed away with heart complications. He was predeceased by his first wife Lilja (nee Vigfusson) and stepson Guyle. He leaves to mourn him his loving wife Marge; her daughter Marny Bennett (Lynn) and their children, Ryan, Kandra and Corey. He also leaves his five sons and their children, Kim (Val), Megan and Morgan, Dana (Camille), Jackson and Cuba, Kurtis (Cheryl), Devon and Ashley, Trevor (Sheryl), Olivia, Matt and Emma, Clint (Violet). Dave lived in Winnipeg all his life. He was born in St. Vital and was educated at Norberry School. He went to work at a very young age and retired from Pepsi/7 Up Blackwoods Beverages 42 years later. Dad was a dedicated loyal employee. He always had a smile and a kind word or greeting for everyone during his working day. His fondest hobby was carpentry: many of his children and grandchildren have keepsakes that he either built or repaired for them. In his retirement, he enjoyed relaxing at home with Marge and being with his grandchildren. He took pleasure playing cribbage, doing jigsaw puzzles and going out to bingo nights. A few years ago, when Dave was in better health, he took his first plane trip and travelled to Ireland. With some Irish Luck he and his eldest son Kim succeeded in finding his great-aunt Miriam and other relatives in Belfast, and had a great holiday. Dave will be fondly missed by everyone he touched in his life. A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, March 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations in Daves memory be sent to the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities Foundation, 825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5 or the St. Boniface Research Foundation, Heart Care Campaign, 351 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 3C1.
