ALMA REID (nee BEATON) Mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away at the Betel Home, Selkirk, MB, at the age of 84 years, March 25, 2002, with family at her side. She leaves to mourn her daughter Marilyn (Lynne), son-in-law David Olson, granddaughter Kelly, (Ayman) Sufian and grandson Scott Olason, all of Scottsdale, AZ; sisters, Beatrice Leigh, Edith (Dan) Greening, Myrtle (Jack) Mondor, Georgina Wasio, Geraldine (Gordon) Moodie, sister-in-law Meta Elliott; many nieces, nephews and loving friends. Alma was predeceased by her husband and soul mate Ralph McGowan Reid, killed in action in the Second World War; her parents, William and Grace Beaton; sister Grace Mickolson and brothers, Clifford, Clarence, Wilfred and George. Alma was a loving, caring person who will be remembered for her generosity and kind spirit. She loved being a mother and cherished her time with her grandchildren who have so many wonderful memories of their "Nan." Pallbearers will be David Olason, Scott Olason, Ayman Sufian, Bill Andrews, Barry Wasio and Gordon Burr. Honourary pallbearer to be Dan Greening. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 2, at 1:00 p.m. at Old St. Andrews Church on the Red, with graveside service following. Luncheon to follow at Larters at St. Andrews Golf and Country Club. The family wishes to thank the wonderful caring staff at the Betel Home and Dr. Demsas for all he did. The family especially wishes to thank sisters, Edith and Bea and brother-in-law Dan who were there for her every step of the way.
