Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARNOLD SARAPU January 30, 1915 - March 22, 2002 A truly unique man died on Friday, March 22, 2002. Arnold was born in Bird River, MB in 1915 at the family homestead which is now the site of the Bird River Bible Camp. Several years after they settled, the family sold and moved to the Lee River area, where Arnold resided all of his life until his move to the Whitemouth Personal Care Home in 2001. During his years in Lee River, Arnold farmed until the mid-50s and in the early 60s he created a campground on the farm among the many trees he had planted earlier. He fondly called this his people ranch. This he operated until 1980 at which time he and his campers formed a co-op known as Arnolds Campers Co-op, to which he became a member. Arnold loved nature and all things natural, especially his trees. He was a member of Greenpeace and the World Wildlife Fund. A life long bachelor, Arnold was predeceased by his parents, August and Rosalia and all eleven brothers and sisters. He is survived by nephews and nieces and their children. Arnold was a kind and compassionate person who was remarkably articulate, known for his ability to quote classic poems in their entirety. With his unique philosophy, sense of humour and outlook on life, he was a most unforgettable person and was loved by all those who had the good fortune of meeting him. The final year of Arnolds life at the Whitemouth Personal Care Home was a great change for him and he adapted well to his new environment, continually delighting the staff with his humour, wit and good nature. Many heartfelt thanks to the marvellous staff at the home for making Arnolds final year as comfortable as it possibly could be. In keeping with Arnolds wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. Any donations friends may wish to make may be made to a charity of choice, Greenpeace or the World Wildlife Fund.
