BURGHARD KAUTH Suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 74, our father, Burghard Kauth, went home to be with his Lord. Burghard Kauth was born to his parents Eduard and Hulda Kauth on September 5, 1927 in Santen, Latvia. He was the third of eight children. He received Jesus as his personal Saviour at the age of 21 and was baptized by his uncle Reverend Benjamin Delke in Hannover, Germany. On December 24, 1953 he married Marianne Gruenke and God blessed them with six children. In May 1954 he and his wife immigrated to Winnipeg. Since there were no opportunities as a salesperson he took up a new trade as a mason. He was employed for over 18 years with Heyman & Schmidt after which he then formed his own business, Edison Masonry. McDermot Avenue Baptist Church became his spiritual home where he served joyfully in the male choir and on many committees. He used his expertise as a bricklayer on many churches throughout Winnipeg especially on his own church and also at Camp Nutimik. After his retirement in 1992 he spent time travelling to various places including Germany, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and the United States where he visited with family and friends. He leaves to mourn Marianne Kauth; his children, Vera (Klaus) Mueller, Peter Kauth, Dorothy (Timothy) Herr, Ruth Kauth, Sandra (Craig) Oldenburg, Timothy Kauth, Judy Kauth (daughter-in-law) grandchildren, Nancy (Dean) Dzwinchuk, Sheryl Kauth, Brenda (Dennis) Barrett, Sarah Mueller, Buford Kauth, Ryan Kauth, JT Herr, Luke Herr, Drake Oldenburg; and great-granddaughter Leah Kauth; three brothers and two sisters and their families in Germany; one sister Gerda Podzuck and family in Edmonton; and numerous relatives in Germany and Canada. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 4 at 12:30 p.m. at McDermot Avenue Baptist Church, 821 McDermot Ave., with viewing one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Burghards memory to Lake Nutimik Baptist Camp. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
