Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDR. KENNETH WARREN, D.V.M. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Kenneth Warren on March 29, 2002. Kenneth Warren was born July 11, 1920 at Grenfell, SK, the sixth of seven children born to George Warren and Gwendolyn Francis Richards. He grew up in the Riverside and Bunclady district on the family farm. He went to school in Bunclady and Fairfax. After graduation he spent a year in the lumber camps in northern Manitoba. He joined the Canadian Air Force six weeks prior to the outbreak of the Second World War as part of the 402nd squadron. He spent his 19th birthday in England. He was an aircraft mechanic and progressed to the rank of Flight Sergeant, the youngest Sergeant in the squadron. He returned to Canada and was posted to Prince Rupert where he met Myrtle Doreen White. After their marriage on August 2, 1944 in Vancouver, they moved to Portage la Prairie, on release from the Armed Forces where Dad attended UBC for one year. Their first son Wayne was born in Vancouver. They then moved to Guelph, ON where Dad attended Veterinary College and Doug was born there. Dad graduated in 1950 from Veterinary College and the family moved to Killarney that year. His veterinary practice encompassed a large area from north of No. 2 Highway to the U.S. border, from Ninga to Pilot Mound, for the next 25 years. He retired from private practice in 1975 and was employed by the Federal Government as a District Veterinarian out of the Boissevain office where he worked until 1986. Prior to his retirement and then after he enjoyed hunting and being involved with his dogs retriever trials. Dad and Mom travelled from coast to coast with their dogs and participated in trials along the way. Dad was responsible for the development of the property adjacent to the bay including the land where the Trilake Health Centre is located. He eventually built his retirement home there. Dad was awarded the Commemorative Medal awarded by the Governor General of Canada for the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada in recognition of significant contribution to Compatriots, Community and to Canada. In 1996 Dad received the Green Acres Habitat Stewardship Award in recognition of efforts to conserve wild habitat for future generations. This followed his donation of part of the farm land on the south shore of Rock Lake. Dad in later years enjoyed visiting with family and friends and watching his grandchildren grow up. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Doreen; his sons, Wayne (Donalda) of Brandon, Doug (Irene) of Prince George, BC; two daughters, Lynda (Leo Seewald) of Winnipeg, and Phyllis of Brandon. Also by grandchildren, Cathy, Jim (Pat), Dean, Tanya, Marc, Daniel; and two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Ashley. He is also survived by one brother Ron (Mildred) of Ottawa, and one sister Gwen Barlow of Penticton, BC, and many nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wheatland Chapel, Killarney. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association, or charity of ones choice.
