GEORGE JOHN DRIEDGER George J. Driedger born July 1, 1915 in Grunfeld, Southern Russia passed away April 4, 2002 at Carman Memorial Hospital. He immigrated to Canada in 1923 with the family to Glen Bush, SK where they resided until 1925 when they moved to Blumenfeld, MB. In 1933 the family moved to the Barnsley/Carman area where he farmed till 1986 when he moved to the town of Carman. There he resided till his passing. He was baptized, upon confession of his faith, May 24, 1942 with his brother Jac by Bishop J. Bueckert. He loved to hunt, enjoyed playing hockey and baseball in his youth and always took an active interest in all his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, John Driedger and Frank and sister-in-law Susan Driedger, one sister and brother-in-law Mary and Jac Janzen and one sister Tina Driedger. He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law Jac and Henrietta Driedger of Carman; sisters, Margaret Driedger of Carman and Sara Driedger of Steinbach, and numerous nieces and nephews: Alvin and Margaret Janzen and family, Lora and Martin Derksen and family, Barry Driedger, Carol and Terry Bates and family and Cathy and Blake McCutcheon and family, John and Juli Driedger and family, Wenda and Bill Edge and family and Shelley Driedger. Funeral service will be held from the Carman Mennonite Church in Carman, MB on Tuesday, April 9 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Pauls officiating. Viewing will take place prior to the service. Interment will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery, Carman. Memorial donations may be made to the M.C.C., 134 Plaza Dr., Winnipeg, MB, R3T 3K9 or to a charity of your choice.
