Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryETHEL ERICKSON Peacefully on April 5, 2002 Ethel Erickson (nee Thompson) passed away at the Selkirk General Hospital at the age of 77 years. Ethel was predeceased by her parents, Alice and Richard; and by her brothers, Jack, Richard and Cecil. She leaves to mourn her beloved husband of 55 years Wilfred, sons, John (Karen) and Rob (Sharon) sisters, Sybil Cochrane, Betty (Ed) Williamson and Peggy Griffin; grandchildren, Neil, Jeff, and Laura; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Ethel was born in England on March 3, 1925, the youngest of seven. Her family moved to Canada when she was two years old and settled at Ochre River, MB where they farmed for many years. In 1945, Ethel moved to Selkirk where she met her future husband Wilfred. She worked as a telephone operator for many years, retiring in 1988. Ethels many interests included sports and some of her favourites were curling, football and golf. Ethel was not only a wonderful wife and mother, but a true friend. She was a kind and gentle lady and will be remembered always by her family and many dear friends. A service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, April 10 at 2:30 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. A private interment of ashes will follow at a later date in the Selkirk Lutheran Cemetery. Special thanks to Dr. Antonenko and all the nursing staff with Home Care and the Selkirk General Hospital. Your kindness and care was greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Selkirk General Hospital or the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Selkirk.
