Wally was born on September 11, 1929, in Steveston, BC. Surviving are his brother Takanori Shibata (Kikue) of Winnipeg and nieces and nephews from Winnipeg, British Columbia and Ontario. His extensive volunteer work with the Manitoba Japanese Canadian Citizens Association included 24 years with the monthly Outlook newsletter.
