DONALD BURTON FEENER May 6, 1924 to April 7, 2002 Peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2002, at St. Boniface Hospital, with his family by his side, Dad passed away after a brief illness. Dad was born and raised in Liverpool, NS and in 1942, at the age of 18 years, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. While training in Manitoba in 1944, he met the love of his life, Marie Saussereau. They were married September of that year and he left for active duty in India immediately following their honeymoon. He returned in 1946 and picked up his life with Mom and started raising their family. Dad worked for Pioneer Electric for a time and then started working with Manitoba Hydro, where he worked for 27 years until his retirement in 1984. Dad and Mom lived for their family. Their home was always a gathering place for his children and grandchildren. Mom died in 1999, and Dad carried on looking after his kids, always being available to help with renovations, painting, or special projects with the grandchildren. Dad will be sadly missed, but we know hes back with Mom and shell look after him as she always did. He is survived by his six children, Don (Dianne), Gladys Talaga (John), Lloyd (Anne), Gordon (daughter-in-law Pauline), Donna Gagnon (Raymond), and Darlene Tomsic (Murray), the baby of the family and Dads bingo partner. He was proud of his 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren who will also miss him greatly. Also left to mourn are sisters-in-law, Louise Fredrickson (Terry), and Marie Taylor (Harry) as well as five nephews and their families. Pallbearers will be four grandsons, Jeff Feener, Darryl Talaga, Scott Feener, Greg Tomsic, and nephews, Doug and Dennis Fredrickson. Prayer vigil will be at P. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 156 Marion St. at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10 at Christ the King Church, 847 St. Marys Rd. Interment will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7 P. COUTU & CO.
