Date of Passing: Apr 07, 2002
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEGON RUDOLPH HEESE It is with great sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, on April 7, 2002, at the St. Boniface Hospital in the presence of his family. Left to cherish Egons memory is his loving wife Helga; son Richard (Margot) and daughter Christa (George Gordichuk) his grandchildren Ronald (Tarina), Vickie, Mike (Tracy) and Darryl (Brenda) great grandchildren Taron, Ashley, Kylie, Codey and Blake and the many Brothers and Sisters in Christ of the New Apostolic Church whose prayers helped sustain him through a very difficult period. Egon was predeceased by his father Albert, his mother Regina, sister Elsa and her husband Gustav as well as a brother who passed away early in his infancy. Egon was born in Potsdam, Germany on January 28, 1925, immigrating to Canada in 1953 to establish a better life for his family. A machinist by trade, his chosen home was Winnipeg and despite opportunities to leave remained there to pursue his career, raise his family and enjoy the fellowship of the many friends and acquaintances he made over the years. He was a determined, passionate and principled man who had the admiration and respect of all those who came to know him. Above all he loved his family and let nothing disrupt the circle of love that he fostered and cared for until his final days. He was an avid golfer, bowler and all around sports enthusiast enjoying his winters in Florida and summers in Canada. He would debate anything, anytime and anywhere, he was a crossword puzzle enthusiast and enjoyed a challenging game of scrabble. The many competitive hours we shared with our father and grandfather were a pleasure to experience and will be sorely missed. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, April 12, at 2:00 p.m. at the New Apostolic Church, 1755 Taylor Ave. All those wishing to share in the celebration of Egons life and remember the "good old days" are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The New Apostolic Church Overseas Mission Fund, or the St. Boniface Hospital Oncology Unit. The family wishes to thank all of the doctors and nurses of the St. Boniface MICU who looked after Egon with compassion and made his last days as comfortable as possible.
