Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERNADINE REID (nee SHIELDS) Peacefully on March 30, 2002 Bernadine Reid born October 5, 1915 passed away at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 86 with her family by her side. Bernadine was predeceased by her husband Ringland Reid; sister Margaret (Peggy) Ayres Marek and her parents David and Isabel Shields. She will be lovingly missed by her daughters, Heather Bailey and Michelle Reid; granddaughters, Shelagh (Kerry) Friesen, Tracey Brownie, also by her great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. "Bernie" enjoyed her many summers camped out at Brokenhead River Park in Beausejour, MB. She also enjoyed knitting slippers for everyone from newborns to seniors and family members and was affectionately known as the "slipper lady". In her early years she was employed by the Municipal Hospital as a nurses aide. She was a member and past officer of the Prince Edward Legion Ladies Auxillary Branch No. 81 and also an associate member of the Ladies Auxillary Past President of the A.N.A.F. Branch No. 284 Steveston, BC. Special thanks to Dr. Darcy Johnson for all his kindness, Allan Tymchak, nurses and staff of Concordia Hospital and Deer Lodge Centre for the loving care, and to her cherished nieces, Sharon (Bill) McDonald and Dale (Paul) Parret for their devotion to her in her time of need. Cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service at Bernadines request. In lieu of flowers, for those who so wish, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Rd., Winnipeg, MB, R2L 9Z9. Klassen Funeral Chapel in care of the arrangements.
