IDA LACASSE (nee GOBEIL) Peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, 2002, Ida Lacasse, beloved wife of the late Aurele Lacasse, passed away at the age of 85 years. Surviving are her seven children, Claudette Dumas (John), Edmond (Simone), Madeleine Beaulieu (Ted), Denis (Anna), Robert (Judy), Suzanne and Marcelle; her grandchildren, Charmaine Bohemier (Pierre), Brigitte Le Claire (Reg), Danielle Ventura (Gary), Jason, Christopher, Stephanie, Misty Lacasse; and great-grandchildren, Skylar, Chanelle and Dominic Bohemier. Also surviving Ida are her three sisters, Laurette and brother-in-law Wilfrid Rougeau, Irene Lapointe and Sister Aurise Gobeil s.n.j.m; and her in-laws, Marie Anne Lacasse, Eudore and Agathe Lacasse and Denise and Victor Sicotte, Ernestine and Augustine Gobeil; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Aurele (1996) son Claude (2000) and grandson Patrick; also her parents Moise and Anna (Joyal) brothers, Gerard and Arthur Gobeil; and sisters, Dorothee and brother-in-law Horace Desrosiers, Soeur Yvonne, Soeur Emilienne, Soeur Alice, Soeur Angeline; and in-laws, Marius and Joseph Lacasse, Irene and Hormidas Turenne. Ida was born in Otterburne on May 3, 1916. Youngest of a large family, Ida and twin sister Irene have many good memories of living on the Gobeil farm. In 1938 she married Aurele in Otterburne. While raising her eight children, she helped the family business, Otterburne Transfer, and participated in community organizations. After moving to Winnipeg in 1960, she worked briefly at various establishments. During retirement, she busied herself at the Columbus organizations: cards, bingo and the Columbus Church Council. Ida will be remembered for her faith, desire to work, love of life and having pride in her children. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Boniface Cathedral, 190 avenue de la Cathedrale, with Msgr. Albert Frechette presiding. Viewing will take place one-half hour before the mass. Interment to follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the dedicated Home Care staff for their compassion, care and love extended to Mom during her lengthy illness. A special thank you to Brenda and Judy. Thank you to the Palliative Care Unit of 3 East at the Riverview Health Centre for their care during her short stay.
