CLARA KAUFMAN (1911 - 2002) Clara Kaufman passed away April 6, 2002. She is fondly remembered by her children, Justice Morris (Moishe) and Maxine Kaufman and Miriam and Ralph Kuropatwa. Clara leaves a legacy of ten grandchildren and their families including 14 great-grandchildren. Clara was predeceased by her husband Shlomo Kaufman in 1968. She was the surviving member of the Zamdweiss family - mother, father, five sisters and two brothers. Clara was born in Sarna, Poland on June 16, 1911. She moved to Israel in the late 1930s where she married and raised her family. In 1952, her family immigrated to Winnipeg. She always adapted to her surroundings and life circumstances as exemplified by the six languages that she spoke - Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Yiddish, Hebrew and English. Clara will be remembered for her passion for family, her beautiful voice, the recounting of her life stories, a love of culture, her chopped liver and matzah cake. From Poland to Israel to Winnipeg, she was always full of strength and hope. We will forever be grateful to Clara Kaufman, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who we all love and whose memory we will cherish forever. We wish to thank Dr. Rusen and the staff at the Simkin Center for their kindness. Funeral service was held on Sunday, April 7 at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue. Donations can be made to Jewish Child and Family Service or to the charity of your choice.
