WALTER ROSLING Passed away peacefully, on Monday, April 8, 2002 at Seven Regions Health Centre, Gladstone, MB, Walter Rosling age 87 years of Gladstone. Born on August 24, 1914 in the Muir District, Walter grew up in that district and received his formal education at Valleystream School. Walter worked on farms in the area and on June 22, 1938 married Nellie Stewart. In 1941 Walter and his wife settled in the Gillespie District and farmed there until 1961 when they moved to the Stewart farm. Besides farming, Walter also drove school bus for a number of years. In 1978 Walter and Nellie moved to Gladstone and in 1999 Walter moved to Centennial Apartments. Besides his home and farm, Walter contributed to the community in many ways. He was a member of Gladstone United Church, had served on the Stewart Board as well as session; a Board Member of Neepawa-Gladstone Co-op for 19 years; a leader for 4-H Beef Club; a Director of Helston Pool Elevator; Chairman of Gladstone Cemetery Board for several years; a member of the Gladstone Masonic Lodge; a Volunteer Ambulance Driver; and for several years he taught the Defensive Drivers Course. Walter enjoyed flowers, gardening, and woodworking, and volunteered many hours at the church and cemetery planting flowers and trees. Left to mourn his passing are two sons, Harold (Edna) of Gladstone, Stuart (Coliene) of Vulcan, AB; one daughter Brenda (Mark) Rukin of Brandon, MB; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother William (Lillian) Rosling of Kimberly, BC; sister-in-law Elsie Rosling of Winnipeg; brother-in-law Geoff Smith of London, ON. Predeceased by his parents; his wife Nellie in 2000; brother Alfred and sister-in-law Ada. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 15 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gladstone United Church with Rev. Blair Whyte officiating. Interment will follow in the Gladstone Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of ones choice.
