GORDON ROBERT SCHULKINS It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gord Schulkins on Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at the Selkirk General Hospital at the age of 48. Gord was a devoted husband and father and a wonderful, kind and caring man. He leaves to mourn his loving wife and best friend Carol; daughter Pam; stepsons, Dave and Kevin; grandson Chad; his sister Marilyn; sister-in-law Gladys (Mel) and nieces and nephew, Jennifer, Heather and Stephen. He was predeceased by his parents, Amy and Allen; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Olga. His memories will be cherished by all who knew and loved him. Gord was born in Toronto, ON on July 13, 1953. In his late teens he moved to White Rock, BC and then to Winnipeg. He married Carol on November 12, 1982. He was involved in the trucking community but his greatest joy was getting out on the highway on his Harley Davidson which he enjoyed for the past 25 years. He will be remembered for his strength of spirit and determination and most of all his sense of humour. Memorial service will be held on Monday, April 15 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., with Rev. Dave Dromereski officiating. Interment Glen Eden Memorial Garden. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Samms, Dave Samms, Ron Dixon, Larry Wolowich, Kevin Dromereski and Roly Gouvarts. The family would like to express special thanks to the wonderful compassionate staff of the 2nd floor Medical Unit of Selkirk General Hospital for their excellent care and dedication. Carol also thanks friends and family that journeyed with her and Gord over the course of their struggle offering love, support, encouragement and prayers. She will always cherish the outpouring of care and kindness demonstrated by her co-workers. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations in Gords memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. In tears we saw you sinking We watched you fade away You suffered much in silence You fought so hard to stay You faced your task with courage Your spirit did not bend But still you kept on fighting Until the very end. God saw you getting tired So He put His arms around you And whispered, "Come with Me". So when we saw you sleeping So peaceful free from pain We could not wish you back To suffer again. Our family chain is broken And nothing seems the same As God calls us one by one Our chain will link again. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
