Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN PIDLASKI On April 14, 2002, after a lengthy illness, John Pidlaski passed away at the Grace Hospital. Born June 26, 1922, John was predeceased by his wife, Lucille (nee Lachance) in 1990; parents, Andrew and Mary (nee Solilo) brothers, Nicholas, Michael, and William; and sister Anne Pylatuk. John will be sadly missed by daughter June; son Jerry (Debi) grandchildren, Stephen, Mary and Andrew; and sister-in-law Hilda Pidlaski. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. John was born and raised in Elmwood and served with the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. He worked for the Canadian National Railway as a Carman for 33 years. He married Lucille Lachance in 1945 and together they raised two children in the Fort Rouge area. Dad loved all sports, especially golf, starting by following his big brothers as a caddie in his early years. He was an accomplished carpenter and could build and repair almost anything, willingly offering his talents to assist family and friends. John was a respected and loving husband, father and grandfather. In his later years, he took great pride in the activities of his grandchildren whether it be in sporting events, sports trivia, current events and geography with Stephen; piano, ballet, jazz dancing recitals and concerts for Mary, or being a dedicated supporter of Andrews activities in hockey and soccer. Despite the pain he endured for many years, he seldom missed family related activities. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 18 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with Reverend Linda Churchill officiating. Visitation will be held one half hour prior to the service time. Interment and reception will follow. Pallbearers will be Ron Britner, Gren Winslow, John Gaudes, and his grandchildren Stephen, Mary and Andrew Pidlaski. Honourary pallbearer will be Donald McDonald. The family thanks Margaret McCartney and staff of Home Care, Riverview Day Hospital, and doctors and staff of I.C.U. and third floor staff at Grace Hospital for the compassionate care they provided.
