ELSIE IRENE BOULTON (nee KITCHEN) 1921 - 2002 On Monday, April 15, 2002, Elsie Irene Boulton of Poplar Park, formerly of Patricia Beach, MB, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Elsie was born on September 10, 1921. She taught school as a permit teacher in Scanterbury, Patricia Beach, and as a substitute teacher at Sheffield School, Poplar Park. Elsie overcame many trials in life, having TB twice and cancer and being on oxygen for the last five years. Elsie was a kind-hearted lady with a terrific sense of humour. She loved to sit on her deck and watch the birds as they came to feed, especially her favourite, the hummingbirds. She had many plants and flowers that she nurtured and others admired. Her beloved dogs could be found nestled next to her on her bed. Not often would you visit Elsie that she did not have a knitting or sewing project on the go. She knit many beautiful sweaters, mittens, etc. She always had a pair of slippers handy for visitors to wear and then take home with them. How she loved her grandchildren and treasured visits with her great-grandchildren. She spoke often of her fond memories of her early years in Patricia Beach and of the TB Sanitarium in Ninette. Elsie will be sadly missed by all those who knew her. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the Selkirk Aboriginal Redemption Centre, 209 Dufferin Ave., Selkirk, with Pastor Raymond Settee officiating. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • My Beautiful Cherished Granny. Although almost 14 years have gone by, and I still get tears in my eyes thinking about how much I wish you were still physically and never having you meet my wonderful husband to be Kyle, I think you pulled some strings to help us find each other, he is loving, caring, honest and a respectful man that I couldn't possibly ask for a better husband to spend the rest of our lives together watching our beautiful boys Owen & Liam and hopefully more grow into amazing people. Kyle has our special sense of humor, and never fails to suprise me. How I wish you could have met him and our children while you were still with us physically, but have no doubt that you are watching and guiding us with grandpa at your side in many ways we don't even know. I cherish the times we had together even when we just cuddled in bed and looked through the same satin blue box full of pictures seeing so many years of family photos and learning where I came from by you showing me everytime I would ask, and I'm working on trying to knit, procrastinating more than anything, you knit so many beautiful things which I still have and will never part with, and hope I can knit an afghan 5% as well as you and wish we had more time so I could have learned more from the best teacher. But your hard working hands are at rest now, and you will forever be in my heart. I hope you're proud of the family Kyle and I have created and I will always continue to spread bird seed at your resting place and bring my family to honor your memory as often as we can. How I miss the hummingbird feeder in front of the kitchen window with the holly hocks blooming tall, and sipping on tea with ice cubes and fresh baked bread toasted slices with your layer of butter and homemade jam or marmalade. You always made the sweetest, but that's because you were so sweet! I am honoured to be your grandaughter and hope you and grandpa and auntie Judy are all looking down on us with smiles and giggles, because well grandpa and you gave my Daddy his compassion and amazing sense of humor that he passed to me and Kyle has too, and now our beautiful children! I will never stop thinking or speaking to you. I know your listening, and am greatful for my family and my daddy and auntie Wendy, they are my earths Angels, and one day we will be together again. Just not for quite a few decades, I can only hope to live a full amazing loving long life you did, and hope I can be as wonderful as you! I will love you always and forever! - Posted by: Mandy Lynn Boulton and many special nicknames! (Grannies little loving grandaughter!) on: Mar 23, 2015

  • Granny known to many as granny or ma, nicknames are a Boulton family tradition, and still at almost 30 whenever anybody from my family or those that live or have lived n Libau still call me Chicken and I consider it an honour to be part of that time of our family. Granny was a very kind hearted person who was always there to listen with a cup of tea, fresh homemade bread or cinnamon buns, and always "Chickens Cookies", a cookie granny made just for me with smarties on top, simply called Smartie cookies. I could count on a bag every week as well as knit doll clothes to match my sweaters she knit, with mittens, slippers, toques, balaclavas, socks and slippers, purses all knit to a perfect fit. The last project granny finished before she died was a pair of pink mittens when I was 16 to keep my hands warm while pumping gas at my part time job. I still can't wear them for fear of snagging them or wrecking them somehow. But I took them from my dresser drawer often for many years after granny passed to smell them because they stilled smelled sweet of granny mixed with vicks. Granny has a wonderful sense of humour and always had many stories to tell while curled up next to her in her bed under a electric blanket and watching birds, listening to gospel and watching her knit. She was always worried when I would go tobogganing behind the sleds in winter and tubing behind the boat in summer. But all the worries came from love, and everything granny did came from love. Almost 13 years ago and I still think of her daily and talk to her often as she had taught me with her faith that she would always listening! I will always admire her for the rest if my life, and try to show others the positivity and love that she bestowed upon all others that had the pleasure of knowing Granny. Love always and forever Chicken - Posted by: Mandy Lynn Boulton "Chicken" (Loving Granddaughter and Cherished Grandmother Teacher) on: Mar 16, 2014
