During the Second World War, the family was deported from Poland to the Soviet Union and then spent six years in a re-settlement camp in South Rhodesia (Zimbabwe). The family immigrated to Canada after the war and was reunited with their father in Kinlock, SK, where they farmed. She moved to Winnipeg where she worked as a nurses aide at the St. Boniface Sanatorium. There she met and married Zygmunt Janasz. They had four children and settled in Brooklands. She worked as a nurses aide and a waitress during the early years. Zygmunt died in 1968 leaving her to raise four children alone. In 1969 she joined Comcheq as its first employee. She worked her way up from a key punch operator to manager of the Winnipeg branch. She briefly worked at Superlite but returned to Comcheq until her retirement in 1997. She married Edwin Lotzkat in 1983 and welcomed his daughter Ursula into the family. Edwin died in 1998. She enjoyed gardening, travel and especially her family. She died as courageously as she lived.
