EDNA ELIZABETH HYDE (nee COLQUHOUN) Peacefully on April 16, 2002 at Central Park Lodge-Poseidon Care Centre, Edna Elizabeth Hyde (nee Colquhoun), aged 90, wife of the late William Hyde. Edna was born in Pipestone Municipality in western Manitoba on July 31, 1911 and spent her formative years with her family in the Sinclair, MB area. She had many fond memories of rural living, and delighted in telling the stories of her pursuits as a young girl growing up on the prairies. Her school years were a particular source of enjoyment for her, and she would always make sure the nieces and nephews knew the importance of a good education. Edna was also an avid curler in her youth, and retained an interest in the game for many years. Moving on to Winnipeg, she worked at Fairfields and Eatons prior to her marriage to William Hyde in 1950. She and Bill took many driving and camping trips together and made many longtime friends along the way, sharing her hospitality and great cooking with all who had the good fortune to meet her. After her husbands passing, she lived on her own until 2001, enjoying lunches with family and friends, and her weekly visits to Polo Park where she would walk the entire mall! Left to fondly remember her are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews in the Colquhoun, Reid, Hyde, Fay and associated families...she will be greatly missed! Edna was predeceased by her husband Bill; her sister Jessie; and brothers, William, Robert and James. Heartfelt thanks to the marvellous staff at Poseidon Care Centre, especially the Fifth Floor crew who provided such wonderful care over the last eight months of Ednas residence there. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 25 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, with interment in Garry Memorial Park, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Pallbearers will be Stewart Fay, Samuel Fay, Alastair Hyde, Troy Hyde, Hunter Patterson and William Reid.
