Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUSSELL KISYK With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our husband, father and grandfather, Russell Kisyk on Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at the Bethania Personal Care Home. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Elsie; daughter Cathy (Bob) Sochasky; daughter Brenda (Richard) White; son Gregory, and grandchildren, Samantha and Eric Sochasky. He is also survived by his sister Stella Martin; his sister-in-law Anne Horsfall, and many nieces and nephews. Russ was predeceased by his parents, sister Anne Crowe and brother-in-law John Crowe. He was born January 27, 1923 in LaBroquerie, MB, moving to Winnipeg when he was 10 years old. He took his schooling in East Kildonan. Russ was with the R.C.A.F. from 1941 - 1945. In 1950 he joined the Winnipeg Police Service; in 1968 was promoted to Patrol Sergeant. After 26 years with W.P.S., Russ joined the Manitoba Labour Department in both Winnipeg and Thompson, where he worked until he retired in 1989. Russ was very much a handyman who enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Other interests included watching and participating in most sports, playing Scrabble and spending summers at the Grand Beach cottage. The family would like to thank the staff at the Bethania Personal Care Home for all their care, compassion and kindness. Sincere thanks are also extended to family and friends who visited Russ during his illness. A private Graveside Service was held. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Russs memory to the Manitoba Schizophrenia Society, 3 - 1000 Notre Dame Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0N3 or a charity of ones choice. "We will miss you."
