Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN SOROKA On Friday, April 19, 2002 at the Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital, Stonewall, John Soroka, beloved husband of Patricia Soroka of Warren and formerly of Marquette, MB. Surviving besides his wife Patricia; niece Jean Mamiu; nephew John Sibiupka in the Ukraine; cousins and dear friends, Mary Gay and families, Pauline Ehre and families of Winnipeg; also numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Natalie Soroka and his sister Maria. John was born May 24, 1908 in the Ukraine. He came to Canada in 1927 and settled at Willow, SK where he joined his father Joseph Soroka. In 1937 he moved to Marquette and farmed there until 1993, when he moved to Warren. He married Patricia Wiltshire on April 27, 1948. In his early years, he hauled gravel and grain. John was an active part of the community. He was a founding member of the Warren Pool, and the Marquette Co-op. He was a member of the Poplar Heights Credit Union, Meadow Lea Curling Club, and Meadow Lea Hall. John was an active sportsman and a fan of baseball, hockey and wrestling. He was socially involved in the district and always loved a good dance. Many thanks to the staff of the Stonewall Hospital for their care and support. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 24 at 2:00 p.m. at the Meadow Lea Hall. Joane Kury will officiate. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or to a charity of ones choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
