Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNEST GUY BERENS JR. Tragically on Friday, April 19, 2002 at St. Laurent, MB, Ernest Guy Berens Jr. passed away at the age of 18 years. Ernest was born in Winnipeg on May 24, 1983, spending time in Grand Rapids, later moving to St. Laurent. Ernest was attending St. Laurent School and was going to graduate this year. He leaves to cherish his beautiful memory his beloved parents, mother Donna Desjarlais and father Ernest Berens Sr. (Erica) brothers, Fabian Berens, Troy Desjarlais, Lee Desjarlais, Mason Berens, Bruce Desjarlais, and Darryl Desjarlais; sisters, Carmel Desjarlais, Maisie Berens and Caroline Desjarlais; grandparents, Andrena Berens and Edna (George) Hudson. There are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his stepfather, Emil Desjarlais and great-grandparents, Henry and Lillian Pranteau and uncle Matthew. Prayers and wake services will be held on Sunday, April 21 at 6:00 p.m. and Tuesday, April 23 at 6:00 p.m. at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 724 Selkirk Ave. at Parr, Winnipeg. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 25 at 10:30 a.m. with Mass at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Laurent Roman Catholic Church. Interment to follow at the Parish Cemetery. Honourary pallbearers will be Clovis Bittern, Richard and Elsie Kutzner, Justin Carrier, Troy Desjarlais, Maurice Desjarlais, Lee Desjarlais, Michael Berens, Norm and Wilma Kraus, Rene Berens, Grand Rapids School and St. Laurent Basketball Team. Active pallbearers will be Kevin Boudreau, Jimmy Findley, George Hudson Jr., Wayne Berens, Shawn Withawick and Christopher Cabek.
