MARY-ANN LEWYS (nee ROUTLEDGE) After a life marked by kindness, caring and selflessness, Mary-Ann Lewys passed away April 22, 2002, at Health Sciences Centre, aged 71. Daughter of Flora Jean Campbell and William Emmette Routledge, Mary-Ann was born in Prince Albert, SK, on May 5, 1930, lived briefly in Vancouver and resided in Winnipeg for most of her life. Well-liked by co-workers and adored by her entire family, Mary-Ann always remembered important occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries and was always front and centre with her awesome cooking and baking skills at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Her gravy, sweet-and-sour meatballs, shortbread and cherry dreamcake were particular favourites. Although the last few years saw her health fail, Mary-Anns love for life and passion for people never dimmed. One only had to knock on her door to be greeted by a warm smile and and offer of coffee or tea and something to eat. Despite her problems, she was there for anybody in need right to the end. A memorial service will be held for Mary-Ann at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26 at Church of the Rock, 2211 Pembina Hwy., Pastor Mark Hughes presiding. Mom, your love, kindness and caring will be forever missed.
