Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERIN LEIGH CARRUTHERS-SHAW Erin Leigh Carruthers-Shaw, born June 18, 1983, beloved daughter of Jim Carruthers-Shaw and Katherine Carruthers; devoted sister of Noel and Hanu and precious granddaughter of Ida Shaw, died tragically on Saturday, April 20, 2002. Erin was a kind, giving young woman with an infinite love for children and animals. She aspired to be a nurse or a youth care worker. She touched so many lives with her energetic caring spirit. Her volunteer activities included coaching soccer, looking after children and helping at breakfast and lunch programs. She raised many pets and took in strays. As an athlete, Erins intense hustle spurred teammates to a higher level of skill. She played soccer, volleyball and baseball. Her passion for competition was contagious. Erin sang in choirs and enjoyed music. Singing brought her joy. Her proudest moment was graduating from Daniel McIntyre High School. She leaves behind many close friends and teachers. Erin and her brother Noel shared a bond like no other. They would talk for hours and play baseball, football and soccer with each other. She was extremely proud of her big brother Noel. Erin and her cousin Raymond formed a relationship that equalled that of siblings. Growing up together, Erin and Raymond shared conversations they would never reveal to anyone else. Her deep joy was spending the last few years in Baker Lake, Nunavut helping to raise her little brother Hanu. He will profoundly miss his big sister. Our precious Erin will be sadly missed by her myriad of friends and family, her aunts, Jane and Gaeta; her uncle Art; her cousins, Kris, Destiny, Autumn, Raymond, Kalea and of course, her second family, the Yerexs. Our whirlwind Erin will be remembered in every breeze. Flowers are respectfully declined. Donations in Erins name to the Humane Society or the Childrens Wish Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Service and reception will be held on Monday, April 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Westminster United Church, 745 Westminster Ave. at Maryland Street.
