EDWIN HENRY EYERS 1911 - 2002 On Friday, April 26, 2002, Edwin Eyers passed away peacefully in hospital with his family by his side. Ed will be lovingly remembered by his wife Margaret, daughters, Lynda Boxall (Jim), and Myrna Ciglar (Rudy) son Jack (Verna) grandchildren, Bryan (Jennifer), Ardith, Janet, Tricia, Kari, Kimberley, Jaimie, and Julie; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Connor, Emily and Benjamin. Ed is also survived by his brother Harvey (Colleen) sisters-in-law, Anne and Kathleen; many special nieces and nephews; and other relatives and good friends. Ed was predeceased by his father William, mother Jean, brothers, Kenneth and Maxwell; and his youngest son Wayne. Born and raised in Gainesborough, SK, Ed left home as a young man working across the Prairies doing any odd job offered to help support his family. He enlisted in the Air Force during the war and served his country proudly. Ed met Margaret while on leave in Winnipeg. They married and raised their family in the Fort Rouge area for the past 54 years. Employed as a mechanic, he could recognize the make, model and year of most cars. Ed could "fix" anything and give it a second life. After retiring, he spent his time building everything from birdhouses to doll cradles for his grandchildren. Twenty-five years ago, he and Margaret were founding members of the Golden Rule Seniors Club, where his tireless efforts were rewarded by the success of the club. Ed was a kind and gentle man who quietly devoted his life to his family. The family thanks the third floor nurses and staff of Victoria Hospital for their care and concern. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Variety Club, 611 Wellington Cres., Winnipeg, MB, R3M 0A7, or to a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception will follow. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
