CAPTAIN JO-ANN LINTOTT August 4, 1951 - April 30, 2002 Jo-Ann peacefully joined her Mum and Dad April 30, 2002. Jo-Ann is survived by her sisters, Carol Stoess, Kathy Turenne (Mike) and brother James Lintott (Carolyn) nephews, Kurt Stoess (Evelyn and Hilary), Sheldon Stoess (Enza, Brianna and Cassandra), Jean-Marc and Daniel Turenne. She was predeceased by her father Ernest (1985) and mother Elsa (2000). Jo-Ann was raised in Kings Park and attended St. Avila (East) and Fort Richmond Collegiate. She joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1974. She proceeded to CF Recruit School Cornwallis January, 1974, then TQ3 Finance Clerk at CF School of Administration and Logistics, Borden, March, 1974. Jo-Ann was posted to CFB Ottawa, July, 1974, CFB Baldy Hughes July, 1978. She was selected for University Training Plan (NCM) July, 1979 and proceeded to the Royal Military College of Canada, Kingston, ON. Jo-Ann made history when she was the first woman officer cadet to receive a degree from Canadas oldest military college. She graduated in 1981 with First Class Honours, Bachelor of Commerce. After completion of her Finance Officers course (Borden May 1981-August 1981), Jo-Ann was posted to CFB Cold Lake, August, 1981. She was posted to CFB Edmonton, July, 1985 and then to CFS St. Johns, Newfoundland, June, 1986. On June, 1989, Jo-Ann reported to National Defense Headquarters where she held a variety of posts with Director General Financial Services, CCPS MK III Project, and Director General Program Coordination. Jo-Ann returned to Winnipeg July, 1997 where she was employed as the 17 Wing Personnel Services Officer, and as part of Management Services, WCompt Branch. Jo-Ann was dedicated to both her family and military career. She always had a smile and approached life with determination and purpose. Jo-Ann will be especially missed by her nephews, who were the light of her life. She loved travel, history, and was an avid sportswoman. A celebration of Jo-Anns life will be held on Tuesday, May 7 at 11:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. The family would like to extend thanks to the caring staff of Grace Hospital 4 West Wing. Jo-Ann extends her thanks to Major T. Auger and 17 Wing Comptroller staff. Special appreciation to Captain Sandy Gendron for all her help and caring. Jo-Ann thanks her second family, her military friends, from across Canada.
