STANLEY ELLIS BRODIE April 5, 1927 - May 1, 2002 It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing, at the St. Boniface Hospital, of Stanley Brodie on May 1, 2002 after a lengthy battle with leukemia. During his illness, he always had a positive attitude and lived life to the fullest. Stan was "one of a kind" and will be sadly missed by his long time friend and companion, Dolly; brother Colin of Vernon, BC, Harold (Carol) of Morden, MB; sister Hilda (Ted) Risbey of Winnipeg, MB; uncle and aunt Bud and May Mearon of Winnipeg, MB; nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. He was predeceased by his mother Phyllis in 1969 and his father Alex in 1988. Stan was born in Winnipeg in 1927 and spent his early years living in Napinka and Marquette. Stan retired from the CPR in 1986 after 38 years of service. He was a member of the A.N.A.F. Unit No. 60 where he enjoyed the comradeship of his many friends. Stan always took pleasure in the "odd" refreshment and enjoyed the casino. He took frequent trips to Las Vegas and the Shooting Star. He also liked betting on the "ponies", travelling, curling, bowling, golfing, cards, bingo, the lotteries and the "Club". His great sense of humour and congeniality will be missed by all. A sincere "thank you" to all the doctors and nurses at the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for their attention. Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, donations in Stans memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral service will be held at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on Wednesday, May 8 at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be held in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
