GEORGE ALEXANDER BURNETT It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of George A. Burnett at Concordia Hospital on May 3, 2002. George fought a long and hard battle with emphysema which he faced with courage and determination. George will be lovingly remembered by his companion and friend, Dolores; family members, Charles and Daisy Burnett and very special friends, Gary, Charlotte, Sally, Robert and Mel; granddaughter Sheelah Patterson as well as many nieces, nephews and special friend Tiny. He is also survived by two daughters and a son, Sharron, Bonnie-Lynn and Donald, from a previous marriage. George served in the Second World War - first with the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders and later transferred to the Royal Regina Rifles. He was proud to have served his country and also a proud member of No. 4 St. James Legion. Prayers will be said on Monday, May 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. Service to be held on Tuesday, May 7 at 2:00 p.m. also in the Desjardins Funeral Chapel. Interment in St. Boniface Cemetery. Donations, if so desired, may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1P6. A special thanks to the nurses and staff, third floor of Concordia Hospital for their kindness. George had a kind and loving heart and his greatest joy was helping others. "You never asked for favours Yet you did them every day. You never asked for any help Yet you gave so much away. You never asked for gratitude And yet, our whole life through Well be forever grateful For your precious love and you." At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember Him.
