Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWLADYSLAW (WALTER) OWCZAREK Peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2002, at the Johnson Memorial Hospital, Walter Owczarek, aged 81 years of Fraserwood, MB. Walter leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 50 years, Helena; his children, Zofia (Gilles) Lantagne, Mary (Bob) Zuk, Stanley (Johanna) and Edward (Gail) six grandchildren, Stephen, Gillian, Kevin, Kyle, Nicole and Thomaz; sisters, Opola Baryla and Maria Kaczmarek; and numerous nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Katherine; brothers, Peter, Stanley and Joseph of Poland. Walter was born in Poland, September 10, 1920. He brought his family to Canada on March 12, 1959, where he spent his first years working for the CNR. In 1966 he bought the farm in Fraserwood. He enjoyed his farm and could always be found walking among his cattle. Fond memories of Walter was his love of apple trees, honey bees and picking mushrooms. Independence and resourcefulness were his strengths. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children and grandchildren. Prayers will be held on Sunday, May 5, at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 6, at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, Gimli, with Sister Cathy Laviolette and Fr. Art Seaman officiating. Interment will follow in the Precious Blood Cemetery in Fraserwood, MB. His pallbearers will be Stephen and Gillian Lantagne, Kevin, Kyle and Nicole Zuk, Thomaz Owczarek, Przemyslaw Fialek and Edward Krupnik. Special thanks to Dr. Chapnick and the staff of Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1G2 Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
