Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARION DOLENA WILSON Peacefully at the age of 94, Marion Dolena Wilson entered into rest on Thursday, May 2 at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre, Winnipeg, her home for the past two years. Marion was born April 26, 1908 at Hilton, MB, the tenth of 14 children of Flora and John MacKay. After finishing her schooling, she worked for several years as a nanny for older brothers and sisters and for several prominent Brandon families. She took fulltime employment at the Brandon Mental Hospital in June, 1929. She married Charles Robert Wilson on June 3, 1935, and they raised a family of four sons and a daughter. Marion spent many patient hours supporting the various activities of her children, and her delightful sense of humour saved many an anxious moment. Her skills as a cook and housekeeper made her home a haven not only for her children but also for friends and relatives. Her lifelong interest in music and her love of travel made her a welcome companion on many family trips. A 1981 trip to her ancestral lands on the Isle of Harris in Scotland brought her special joy, as did the biennial reunions of the MacKay clan at Hilton. She maintained her home at 308, Fifteenth Street in Brandon until failing health prompted a move to Winnipeg in late spring 2000. The family wishes to express appreciation to Dr. John Regehr and the third floor staff at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre for the loving and compassionate care given their mother during her stay there. Marion was predeceased by her husband in February, 1967 and by her son John in October, 1999. She is survived by David Wilson, Brandon; Donald (Gloria) Wilson, Ottawa; Elgin Wilson, Toronto; and June (Lorne) Thompson, Winnipeg. She is also survived by daughter-in-law Eleanor Wilson, Minto; grandson Jeffrey (Sophie) Wilson, Ottawa; granddaughter Catherine Wilson, Toronto; great-granddaughter Gabrielle Wilson, Ottawa; brother Roderick MacKay, Belmont; and sister-in-law Dulcie McKay, Winnipeg. A private interment will be held in the Brandon Cemetery. A memorial service to celebrate Marions life will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Louise Avenue and Russell Street, Brandon, at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, May 7, with the Reverend John van Vliet officiating. Marion was a longtime member of the church. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Marions memory may be made to a charity of your choice. Messages of condolence may be placed at www.brockiedonovan.com. Arrangements are in care of Brockie Donovan, 727-0694
