Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNIE PRENTICE KNOX (nee WALKER) Annie passed away on May 2, 2002, at Riverview Health Centre, cared for tenderly by the staff of CD2, and with her daughter, Janet, by her side. Annie was born on August 29, 1916, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the second daughter of Sarah and William Walker. She was educated at Methodist College, Belfast, then studied for a career in the Northern Ireland Civil Service. She was proud to have worked in Stormont Castle during the Second World War. In 1949 she immigrated to Canada to marry her fiance, William Ernest Knox, who had arrived the previous year. Together they lived in Kimberley, BC, Moose Creek, ON, Sherbrooke, NS, Westville, NS, Paisley, ON, and Fort Coulonge, QC. Willie was ordained in the Presbyterian Church in 1955, and Annie admirably and wholeheartedly fulfilled her role as Ministers Wife. After his death in 1975, she moved to Ottawa, ON and spent happy years working in the History Department at Carleton University. In retirement, she enjoyed the company of her friends and family, and remained very active in her church. Mom will be missed and lovingly remembered by her three children, Elizabeth Blanchard and husband Ray of Hull, QC, Dr. Janet Roberts of Winnipeg, and Dr. John Knox of Espanola, ON; by her seven grandchildren, Celine, Valerie, Loretta, Christal, and Adam Blanchard, and Christopher and Leigh Roberts; by her beloved sister Lily Hood of Northern Ireland; and by her extended family on both sides of the Atlantic. She leaves faithful friends across Canada and around the world. A memorial service will be held in Ottawa at a later date. Mom will be buried beside Dad in Fort Coulonge, QC. To all the staff and residents of Catherine Place, St. Adolphe Nursing Home and especially of CD2 at Riverview who touched, brightened and enriched our lives in Annies last years: no words can adequately express our thanks. Night-night, Mom.
