Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIOLET PLEWES On May 10, 2002 at the age of 71, Violet Plewes passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born in Winnipeg on August 11, 1930 to John and Mary Tkachuk, the youngest of five children. She grew up in the North End and lived in Toronto and Montreal where her two daughters were born. She had polio in 1955, and moved to Syracuse, NY for treatment and then to Los Angeles, CA. She moved back to Winnipeg in 1960 with her daughters, April and Debra to take care of her mother. She was employed with Woolworths, Macleods, Hudsons Bay Company and H.A. Kidd. She took early retirement in 1991 to enjoy her home, garden and grandchildren. She was a very active person. She enjoyed her garden and crafts and above all, her family and friends. She is survived by her husband Edward of 35 years and her daughter April (Robert) Kushnir, and daughter Debra Fisher; and two grandchildren, Chyrstal Kushnir and Tyson Fisher; and sister Victoria Ferron of Toronto, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father in 1947; her brother Alex in 1979; her mother in 1983; her brother Sam in 1985; and her sister Lee in 1992. Many thanks to Dr. Lala and the nursing staff at Victoria Hospital for the care and compassion in her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinsons Foundation, 825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1M5 or the Palliative Care Unit at the Victoria Hospital, 2340 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB, R3T 9Z9. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). Interment and reception will follow.
