PHILIP MATTES SR. It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Philip Mattes Sr. on May 12, 2002, at his residence. He was predeceased by his daughter Lorraine; brothers, Ralph and Jack; sister Wilma; sisters-in-law, Addie and Frances and brothers-in-law, Henry and Art. Philip will always be remembered with great love and affection by his wife Rose of 57 years; son Philip Jr.; daughter Connie (Dennis) grandchildren, Amanda (Danny), Jamie (Kelly) and Rylan; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Tyler, Justin and Jerrica. He will be greatly missed by sister Anne and brother-in-law Danny; and sister Elsie; nieces, nephews and friends. Born in Winnipeg, Philip attended Faraday and Isaac Newton Schools. He joined the CPR Weston Shops. He retired at 60 and started the cottage life with Mom. Phil enjoyed many happy summers just "puttering" as he called it. Phils family always came first, teaching his children about love, respect and family values. He had a wonderful sense of humour. The family would sincerely like to thank the Home Care people, especially our "Angels," Phyllis, Theresa and Navilla for their support and kindness. We are very grateful to our families, friends and neighbours for their support during this very difficult time. A memorial service to celebrate Dads life will be held on Wednesday, May 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Phils memory to CancerCare Manitoba. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
