ETHEL ALBERTA FRIESEN (nee McLEOD) On May 22, 2002 our dearly beloved Mother Ethel Alberta Friesen (nee McLeod) peacefully left us. Mother was born September 28, 1905 near Kelwood, MB on the family farm she loved so dearly. She was the daughter of Albert McLeod, her dear "Papa" and Suzanna MacGilvary McLeod. After the passing of her father Ethel moved to Winnipeg where she worked for Standard Brands until her marriage in 1938 to C. S. (Neil) Friesen. They resided in Elie where both daughters, Bonnie and Lois were born. They moved to Winnipeg in 1948 and built and owned the Bridge Drive-in for a number of years. Our Mother was a great Mum. Our memories of her are all the things you wish for in a Mother. She was brave, kind, understanding, so easy to talk to. She made us cookies, clothes for our dolls, brought us little treats from "downtown" when we were young. We loved hearing her bedtime stories of when she was a little girl on the farm. Ethel was predeceased by her husband Neil; her parents; sisters, Jessie and Beatrice; brothers, Stanley, Gordon, Russel, Norman, Wilber, and Jim. She is survived by her sister Grace. Leaving to miss her terribly are her daughters, C. Bonnie Shore and Lois E. Abraham; grandchildren, Robin Shore and his wife Heather, Michael and Christine Abraham; and great-granddaughter; our dear wee Lindsay Catherine Shore, as well as Bonnies dear friend Terry Drennan. Our hopes are that you simply fell asleep and wake up back "on the farm" with those you loved and where if it wasnt fun you didnt do it. Love did not mean you never had to leave, only that we did not want you to. We wish to thank the staff at Oakview Place for their care and kindness over the past three years. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice. A memorial will be held at the Oakview Place Personal Care Home, 2395 Ness Ave., at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 27. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
