ILONA SASFI It is with great sadness we announce that Ilona Sasfi passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre a the age of 89 on July 25, 2002. The family who adopted her, Susan, Frank, Jeannette, Trevor, Kaily, Balazs and all the friends who loved her, will sadly miss her. Ilona was born in Hungary on July 6, 1913. She immigrated to Canada with her husband and son in 1957. Due to the frail health of her husband and later her son, she quietly became the sole supporter and principal nurse of ill family. She worked 22 years at the National Cloak Garment Factory, where she was loved and respected for her hard work. After losing her son, then her husband, about 11 years ago, she became close to our family and slowly became our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother for us. She was a faithful member of the Hungarian Catholic Church. Our family wants to thank all our friends and hers that came to visit her and pay respect in her last hours at the hospital. Service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, July 30 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Hungarian Church, 365 Burnell St. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
