ALICE FLORENCE SVEINSON-JONES (nee JOEL) Passed away at the Grace Hospital on Tuesday, September 3, 2002, at the age of 81 years, Alice Florence Sveinson-Jones (nee Joel) of Winnipeg. Alice leaves to mourn her passing her children, Edwin and Betty (grandchildren, Svein and Jenny) of Grand Manan, MB, Lydia Sveinson of Toronto, ON, Allan and Lorna of Winnipeg; brother Herman (Pearl) Joel of Glenboro; sisters, Ethel Skardal of Winnipeg, Ann (Bill) Biles of Glenboro; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Alice was predeceased by husbands, Svein Sveinson in 1966 and Jim Jones in 1999 and by brothers, Bill, Sig, Irvin and Norman. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the Baldur Cemetery, with Pastor Don Miller officiating. Friends that so desire, memoriams may be made in Alices memory to a charity of ones choice. Alice loved to reminisce about her youth in the Baldur/Glenboro area, fondly remembering friends and family gathering in her farm kitchen. She and her family moved to Winnipeg in 1959 where again her kitchen was a cheerful gathering place with plenty of Icelandic coffee always ready. She loved to knit, crochet, garden and nurture her many houseplants and was a member of the Womans Auxiliary at the Royal Canadian Legion #2. Alice was a loving mother whose wonderful qualities, sense of humour and unique outlook on life with be sadly missed by all who knew her.
