Wayne passed away Monday, September 9, 2002 at Anaheim Memorial Hospital in California after a brief illness. Wayne is survived by his sisters, Pat (Dave) Surrett of Winnipeg and Jill (Bill) Johnston, as well as his nieces, Alexis and Keely Johnston all of Stony Mountain. He will also be missed by his cousins and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents Harvey and Lillian (Fanset) Palmateer. Wayne always lived life with gusto. He grew up in Charleswood. He became a computer analyst and his life and work took him from Winnipeg to Toronto, Vancouver and finally Los Angeles. Though he left Winnipeg many years ago he never lost his passion for the Blue Bombers. He continued to support his team from afar by providing season tickets for Winnipeg kids to enjoy. The family wish to thank Wanda and Bruce Stevens and Maria Drysol who were Waynes special angels in California. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will follow. If desired donations in Waynes memory may be made to charity of your choice.
