JOHN A. LAHAIE 1924 - 2002 It is with great sorrow that the family announces the sudden death of John A. Lahaie of St. Pierre. John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Aline (nee Berard) his six children, Gilbert (Gaby), Louise Catellier (Regent), Robert (Marcelle), Gerald (Diane), Elaine Mellor (Donat), and Mariette Tetrault (Norman). He will be greatly missed by his 20 special grand-children and his seven great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn his passing are Johns sisters, Bernadette Berard (Fernand) and Isabelle Catellier, as well as nine brothers-in-law. John was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Marguerite Lahaie; his sister Dorilla Perron, and his brother-in-law Denis Catellier. Dad was born in Ochre River, MB, on March 21, 1924. He was first and foremost a dairyman at which he excelled. Dad was frequently recognized as having the best producing dairy herd in the St. Pierre and District Dairy Herd Improvement Association. Some of his happiest moments on the farm were during seeding and harvesting when he could still lend a helping hand to his sons. Dad was always innovative, resourceful and always very eager to learn. Dearest to Dads heart was his family. He enjoyed family gatherings and held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. John was very involved in community organizations, Knights of Columbus, Vet Board and Caisse Populaire. Since moving into town, he was very involved with the Club Jolys, from its very beginning, where he served as treasurer. He spent numerous hours there helping out and ensuring the Club Jolys was a special place for seniors. For a number of years, John faithfully delivered the Free Press to his customers in town, through rain, sleet or snow. Dad, Pepere, we will miss you, but will remember you fondly. Your inspired us with your work ethic, your honesty (although you did cheat when you couldnt resist Moms desserts), and your integrity. You leave your presence in all our homes with your special touches. Whenever we hear "bagpipe" music or the song "Oh Danny Boy" we will remember your love for music. Dad, we love you; you cared, your worked hard, and now you deserve a rest in Gods arms. Funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Benjamin Kazadi-Shabani at the St. Pierre Roman Catholic Church in St. Pierre-Jolys, MB, on Monday, November 25 at 7:00 p.m Viewing will begin at 6:30 p.m. The service will terminate at the church and cremation will follow. Private interment of Johns cremated remains will take place in the St. Pierre Parish Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Johns memory to the DeSalaberry and District Health Centre Foundation, St. Pierre, Manitoba, ROZ 1VO. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220
