JOHN CHOMIAK Peacefully after a lengthy illness, John Chomiak passed away on December 14, 2002 at the Seven Oaks Hospital with his wife and daughter by his side. John was born in Poland. He immigrated to Canada in 1948. He married Nina in 1957. John was a faithful member of both St. John Cantius and Holy Ghost Parish, where he served as an usher for many years. He worked in a foundry, then went into construction and later he was a supervisor at the University of Manitobas Dental and Medical Colleges. John was a fix it man at home, and for anyone who needed him. He did all the shopping for his family. He could smell a bargain a mile away. John always had a story to tell and had a wonderful sense of humour. He loved to fish, tend his garden, especially his tomatoes and cucumbers, and grow huge delicious apples. He made many garden ornaments, metal painted butterflies, cement bunnies and wooden whirly birds which grace his yard. He loved his pet birds at home. They provided him with much enjoyment and comfort. He leaves to mourn his wife Nina; daughter Irene and many family members and friends to cherish his memory. The family wishes to thank his doctors, nurses and staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and compassion in tending to John. In lieu of flowers, donations in Johns memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Manitoba Lung Association. Viewing will take place one half hour before the Mass of Christian Burial which will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. on Wednesday, December 18. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers will be J. Bodnar, A. Dombrovich, M. Ditkowski, B. Fedorowich, A. Korzeniowski and K. Oige. John was a devoted husband and loving father, he will be missed and forever in our memories. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
