RAY (REMO) PIANA 1934-2003 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ray Piana, peacefully at his home on January 11, 2003. He was predeceased by his father Angelo in 1968 and by his son Dean in 1997. Remo is survived by his wife Shirley of Winnipeg, his mother Anna, brother Mariano, sisters, Giovanna and Alba; three nephews and a niece all of Italy. He will live in the hearts of his many relatives and friends and business associates whose hearts he has touched here in Canada. Remo has been in the hospitality industry for over 40 years in Winnipeg and Thompson. One of his passions was the Annual Kidney Foundation Fund Raising Dinner, of which he had been a founding member, and was instrumental in its operation for nearly 30 years. He will be sadly missed by his family and all that knew him. A special thank you to Dr. Jeffery and Dr. Rush at the Renal Transplant Clinic, Dr. Nason and Dr. Butler at the Health Sciences Centre Palliative care, for all their help and kindness. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 15 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with Fr. Sam Argenziano officiating. Viewing to take place one hour prior. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date at the Queen of Heaven Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Rays memory to the Kidney Foundation or a charity of ones choice.
