STANISLAUS ALEXANDER (STAN) CHASTKO Stanislaus Alexander Chastko (Stan), passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 11, 2003 at the Assiniboine Centre, Brandon, MB. Stan was born at Jackfish Lake, MB on May 7, 1914, the tenth of twelve children born to Kazmir and Marie Chastko. After his marriage to Anne Rebenchuk on May 27, 1937, they had two boys, Bernard and Robert. Stan and Anne began farming in Ozerna, MB and after seven years, they moved to Kelloe, MB. Seven years later, they moved to another farm near Kelloe and farmed there until 1981 at which time they retired and moved to Brandon. During his retirement, Stan spent time at the river fishing or at some lake with his brother, Paul. He enjoyed a good game of cribbage with a glass of brandy or strong drink at his elbow. Stan will be greatly missed by his wife of 65 years; one son and daughter-in-law (Bernard and Vicky) five grandchildren, Charleen and Clarence (Wiebe), Lorne (Donna), Jacqueline and Al (Buhler), Raymond and Valerie and Dave (Rae) seven great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Kari, Westan, Brenden, Noah from Winnipeg and Trevor and Stacy from Edmonton. Also surviving is one sister-in-law, Martha Chastko and many nieces and nephews and their families. Stan was predeceased by his brothers and sisters and his son, Robert. A time of Prayers, for family and friends, will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, Brandon on Thursday, May 15 at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Hedwigs Roman Catholic Church, 227-11th Street, Brandon on Friday, May 16 at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Anthony Korewa will be the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Lorne Chastko, Brian Barnesky, Lawrence Chastko, Paul Sorochynski, Al Buhler and Jerry Kozicki. Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Rebenchuk, Martha Chastko, Morris DeRoo, Carrie Sorochynski, Ed Leganchuk, Rose Leganchuk, Leo Reboul and Gerry Reboul.
